Cookie Policy
Last updated: October 17, 2026
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser so it can remember something from one page or visit to the next. Similar technologies, such as local storage, work in much the same way, and this page covers them too. HowDoDesign.com uses very few of them.
Storage that is always on
Some storage is needed for the site to work and cannot be switched off. The one readers will notice remembers the choice made in the cookie banner, so that the banner does not come back on every page. The people who manage the blog also receive the standard WordPress login cookies when they sign in, which ordinary readers never get.
Audience measurement, only with your consent
Our statistics software runs on our own server. Any cookie or local storage it uses is set only if you choose “Accept all” in the cookie banner, or allow “Audience measurement” under “Let me choose”. It stays on this website, it is not shared with anyone and it is not used for advertising.
What we do not use
There are no advertising cookies on the site, no Google Analytics or other external analytics and no social media tracking pixels. The fonts are served from our own server, so reading the site does not send requests to Google Fonts. The author photos next to articles come from Gravatar, which is explained in the Privacy Policy.
Cookies set by other websites
When you follow a link to another website, including an affiliate link, that website may set its own cookies once you are there. Those cookies are controlled by the other website, not by us, and are described in its own cookie policy.
Changing your choice
You can change your mind at any time by clearing the cookies and site data stored for howdodesign.com in your browser settings. The banner will then appear again on your next visit, and you can make a new choice. Blocking all cookies in your browser also works, though the site will then ask for your choice on every visit.
